Who is The Urban Disciple?
The Urban Disciple is a husband-and-wife owned design studio creating handcrafted Vintage Glam jewelry and fine leather handbags. Every piece is designed and made in small batches with a focus on quality, craftsmanship, and timeless style.
Where are your products made?
All of our jewelry and leather goods are handcrafted in our Midwest studio. We take pride in creating unique, small-batch pieces with exceptional attention to detail.
What makes your products different?
Unlike mass-produced accessories, our designs are handcrafted in small quantities using carefully selected materials. We focus on creating affordable luxury pieces that help women express their personal style with confidence.
Ordering & Production
Are your items handmade?
Yes! Every item is handcrafted by us. Because each piece is made by hand, slight variations may occur, making your item uniquely yours.
What does "Made to Order" mean?
Made-to-order items are created specifically for you after your order is placed.
How long does it take to make my order?
Most made-to-order items require approximately 5–7 business days for production.
Can production take longer during busy seasons?
Yes. During exceptionally busy periods, production may take up to 10 business days. We appreciate your patience while we carefully create your order.
Can I request modifications or upgrades?
Absolutely. If you would like a different length, hardware finish, leather color, or other customization, please contact us before placing your order.
Jewelry Questions
What materials do you use?
Our jewelry is created using a variety of quality materials including gold-plated brass and stainless steel components, designer chains, crystals, pearls, natural stones, and specialty findings selected for both beauty and durability.
Will my jewelry tarnish?
Proper care will help preserve the beauty of your jewelry. We recommend avoiding water, perfumes, lotions, and harsh chemicals when wearing.
How should I care for my jewelry?
Store your jewelry in the velvet bag it comes in as well as in a dry location when not in use. Avoid exposure to water, hairspray, perfume, and lotions. Gently polish with a soft cloth as needed.
Can I wear my jewelry while swimming or showering?
We do not recommend wearing jewelry while swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping, as moisture, oils and chemicals may shorten the life of the finish.
Do you offer different necklace lengths?
Many of our necklaces are available in multiple lengths. Length options will be listed on individual product pages whenever available but on made to order items you can always inquire about the length.
Leather Goods Questions
What type of leather do you use?
We use high-quality full-grain and top-grain leathers selected for their beauty, durability, and ability to age gracefully over time.
Will my leather item look exactly like the photos?
Because leather is a natural material, slight variations in grain, texture, and color are normal and help make each piece unique.
How do I care for my leather bag?
We recommend occasional conditioning with our handcrafted, all natural quality leather conditioner, Good Leather Ju-Ju, and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and harsh chemicals.
Do scratches and marks mean my leather is damaged?
Not necessarily. Full-grain and top-grain leather naturally develops character over time. Minor marks are often part of the leather's unique story and patina and will eventually fade into the character of the leather.
Shipping
When will my order ship?
Ready-to-ship items typically ship within 1–3 business days. Made-to-order items ship once production is complete.
Do you provide tracking information?
Yes. Once your order ships, you will receive tracking information via email.
Do you ship internationally?
Please refer to our Shipping Policy page for current international shipping availability.
What if my package is delayed?
Once a package leaves our studio, shipping times are controlled by the carrier. If your package appears lost or significantly delayed, please contact us and we'll do our best to assist.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 7 days of delivery. Items must be unworn and returned in their original condition. Customer will pay for return shipping and a 10% restocking charge is subtracted from the order total.
Are custom orders returnable?
Custom and personalized items are generally non-returnable unless there is a defect or error on our part.
What if my item arrives damaged?
Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and include photos of the damage so we can resolve the issue quickly.
Gift Giving
Do your items come gift packaged?
Yes! Every order is beautifully packaged and ready for gifting.
Can I ship directly to a gift recipient?
Absolutely. Simply enter the recipient's shipping address during checkout.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes. Digital gift cards are available and make the perfect gift when you're not sure which piece she'll love most.
Community & Giving Back
Does The Urban Disciple support any charitable causes?
Yes. Giving back is an important part of who we are. A portion of our proceeds helps support opportunities for children in our community through summer camps. We also participate in various events that benefit veterans, local animal shelters and occasional fund raisers.
